New years is right around the corner and that means so are New Years resolutions. Many people resolve to lose weight. But losing weight is not as easy as it sounds. About 7 years ago I lost 55 pounds doing a low carb diet. It was hard work and in the 5 years since my son was born I’ve put back on about 20 pounds.
I’m hoping to lost those 20 pounds in 2012. It’s hard with a preschooler who wants snack foods all the time. Add on top his food allergies, so there are just many low carb/high protein options that I don’t do because of his allergies, and it’s hard to do two different meals. I have PCOS which is where a woman’s hormones are out of balance. So eating low carb/high protein is about the only way I can lose weight.
So when I was contacted by Dr. Sears about trying his Zone Diet, I was so excited to give it a try! About a week later I received a package in the mail with all the ‘carb’ items that I don’t let myself eat on a regular basics.
Dr. Barry Sears founded Zone Labs in 1999 based on the discoveries he made on the role of diet in hormonal response, gene expression, and inflammation. The company has established a leadership position in the areas of high-purity omega-3 fatty acid concentrates, patented food products for improved hormonal control and satiety, and anti-inflammatory polyphenols.
1 Package – Herbed Pretzel
1 Package – Original Granola
1 Package – Coconut Chocolate Cookies
1 Package – Strawberry Nougat Bar
1 Package – Double Chocolate Fudge Nougat Bar
1 Package – Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies
1 Pretzel – Sesame
I loved the Cinnamon Swirl Bread Slices. I normally just eat eggs for breakfast, so it was a treat to have cinnamon toast. Most of the items were pretty good and I’d eat them again. I few of them were okay. I know I didn’t personally like the Sesame Pretzel.
A long with the food items I received the Daily Essentials, which is a specially formulated product that contains a daily travel packet consisting of four OmegaRx® capsules plus one capsule of Zone Polyphenols™ to protect the omega-3 fatty acids from oxidation within the body. You get 5 pills that you nee to take which is hard to get down at first but after doing it for a while it gets easier. I did have some fishy after taste with them, but if you eat right after you take it you don’t have it as bad.
I’ve not seen a big weight loss yet, but being since it’s the Holiday season, I’m just happy that I’ve not put on weight!

The Super Stunt Builder lets kids build a car and three different tracks. The car is easy to put together, which is great, because that means if it comes apart during play, kids can put it back together on their own. There are over 90 pieces, including bricks, sticks, panels, ramp pieces, flags, a Hot Wheels banner, a figure, a ring of “fire”, a TRIO Hot Wheels car and barrels. Build the stunt ramp, which measures about 21 inches high.
Hot Wheels is one of those great toys that have been around for years. They are tried and true and you know that your kids will love them!
I love that the TRIOs snap when you put them together (kids can actually hear and feel the click of the bricks), and the pieces stay together for active play and are easy for kids to put together!
It took us maybe about 15—20 minutes to build this using the instructions, which we super easy to follow.
Here’s Jace’s Review:
I would defiantly recommend the TRIO HOT WHEELS Super Stunt Builder.

Do you ever find the prefect dress that you just love and then you just hope and hope that it will be in your size and fit you? eShakti does custom sizing! So you can find the dress of your dreams and it’s always in your size!
I was contacted by eShakti to do a review from their large selection to review. I was excited, because I don’t like dress shopping. Mostly because I can’t find a good fit.
eShakti is a unique women’s apparel store online that allows custom changes in the style of the garment – sleeve, neckline, length can all be changed by the customer to her preference. They also offer the full size selection from size 0-26W and custom size too. Even custom clothes are shipped in 3 business days.
Check out some of the great items you can find at eShakti.
Shakti means power in Sanskrit. eShakti therefore means the power of the Net.
I picked this great Sequined and ruched tulle dress. I loved that I was able to customize the sleeves, neckline and length. The dress arrived quickly. And it came in such a small box, I couldn’t believe it was the dress. The dress was carefully packed and I was able to pull it right out and hang it up.
I don’t care for the length of the dress. And since it’s one of those things you really won’t know until after you get it, there was no way to know what it would look like. They do ask height, which I’m sure helps them know how long to make things, I might be tall but I’m very short legged.
The zipper to the dress is tucked out of sight under the arm. Which is great in thought, but I’m unable to zip it on my own. And it keeps getting stuck on itself. Which means I end up having to unzip it as far as I can and them wiggling and tucking the dress off myself to finish unzipping it.

Costumes aren’t just for Halloween anymore. People use costumes through out the year. And one of the best times is at Christmas. Between dressing like Santa and Church programs there’s lots to pick from. I found out last year that my Church didn’t have nice costumes for their Program. Last year I was able to do a review for a nice costume for a Joseph. But then next to the ‘homemade’ Mary costume he looked out of place. So this year I was able to receive a very nice Mary Child costume from Discount Costumers for Review. They have a great selection of Christmas costumes for kids.
I was so impressed by this costume. It is so corgeous in person. It’s a satin baby blue and white robe with a beautiful matching headpiece with gold trim around the entire outfit. It almost makes them look angelic, just like Mary should look! Can you see your daughter dressed in this beautiful Mary costume at this year’s nativity scene?
Don’t forget to donate to Toys for Tots so that all the children can enjoy Christmas this year.
Disclaimer: I did not receive any form of cash for this review and this is written based on my own honest opinion (other people opinions may vary). Discount Costumers provided me the products to be reviewed but it does not affect my review and opinion on the products.

It’s 9:00 at night and your craving something sweet to eat, but you don’t want to ruin your diet with a big bowl of Ice Cream. What do you do? Grab something good for you, like a piece of boring fruit? Well now you can have the best of both worlds with a Yonanas Frozen Fruit Treat Maker from ProblemSolvers.com.
Yonanas™ is an amazing kitchen appliance that creates delicious, healthy frozen treats made only from frozen bananas and other frozen fruit. Indulge in creamy, delicious desserts that look and taste just like soft serve ice cream, and enjoy without guilt! Make smoothies, popsicles and more, and enjoy your daily fruit serving more than ever before. It’s a great way to get kids to eat their daily serving of fruit. Kit includes treat maker, storage container with lid, 4 piece popsicle maker, recipe book and user manual.
The Yonanas machine is super easy to use. Basically you peel and freeze your bananas. You’ll want to let them thaw for just about 10 minutes or pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. If they are too frozen you’ll get little ice chips but if it’s thawed just right when ran through the machine it will come out looking just like Ice Cream!
You can add different fruits in with the bananas, like strawberries or pineapples. What ever you taste are. I did find that you don’t want a Banana that’s too ‘fresh’, you’ll want to let it sit a day or two before freezing it (Unless you like a strong banana taste).
I was surprised when I first tried it and it came out looking like ice cream. I didn’t know really what it would do. My son, Jace, loves the Yonanas. I’ll normally make a big batch and eat some fresh and then freeze some in the Popsicle tray that comes with it. Then I pop them out and put then in a freezer bag for later. I love giving Jace a frozen snack that he loves and it’s good for him!
WAT-AAH put out a “The WAT-AAH! Challenge,” this year. And asked Mom bloggers, families, and schoolteachers to posted their results via video clips and photographs on http://wat-aahchallenge.blogspot.com. This Fall, WAT-AAH! is introducing the 2011 Back-to-School Challenge with WAT-AAH!’s newest 10 oz. bottles, which are designed to meet the growing demands of moms and kids looking for WAT-AAH! that will fit perfectly in every kid’s lunch box!
My son was excited to see that we got a new shipment for Review from WAT-AAH. He loves WAT-AAH. For the most part all we drink (my son and I) is water.
So having other drinks, such as juice boxes or pouches is a special treat.
So it wasn’t to my surprise that he did not pick the WAT-AAH! when he opened the fridge door to find other treats in there. His first pick was the juice box.
But his next pick was the bottle of WAT-AAH! Followed by the rest of the bottles of WAT-AAH! I think the Pouch drink wanted until the end.

Fall is in full swing here in Southern Indiana and a mid-west winter is on it’s way. The cold nights and chilly days have already set in. And word has it that this will rough winter. Which I’m not looking forward too. I don’t normally do Ugg Type boots, nothing has really done anything for me, until I seen these from BEARPAW! I’m in Love with them!
Okay, I’ll say it…I have big feet. I normally wear a 10 wide. Anything not wide doesn’t feel good on my feet. So I was worried when my box arrived and they were marked a 10…not a 10 W. I thought great, they’re not going to fit. But I thought I’d give them a try. When I first put them on they were tight, but I figured that they sheepskin lining would compress to my foot. Which I was totally right they fit perfect now. And I was happy that I could wear them for hours and not have my feet get super sweaty. They also fit great on my calves, even with my jeans tucked in.
These great boots are made of Cow suede with exposed side fur trim, two straps and metal buckles. The inside is a sheepskin and wool blend lining, sheepskin footbed, metal heel logo.
I recommend BEARPAW to everyone I know! So if you’re looking for a new pair of boots to keep your tootsies warm this winter, head over and check out BEARPAW!
“Tom Romeo founded the BEARPAW brand in 2001 with the intention of redefining casual footwear by utilizing sheepskin, nature’s own technical fabric, to create comfortable and stylish shoes. Sheepskin naturally regulates body temperature so feet stay cooler and drier in the heat and warmer in the cold. In one of the most competitive footwear market segments, BEARPAW has carved out a niche area by providing customers with comfort and sensibility to set itself apart. From slippers to boots to casual footwear, only the finest materials are used to produce BEARPAW shoes. Built to deliver quality and style, every pair of BEARPAW shoes focuses on comfort and fit, using the highest standards of craftsmanship.”
My son hates to go to bed with the lights all the way off. And I hate to leave his light on all night, even on dim. When I read about Sunset Dimmer online I thought that this was just what I needed. The Sunset Dimmer gradually dims over 30 minutes to help wind down for bed! We’re able to lay down in bed with the light on, read 2 books and my son can roll over and start to go to sleep! And I know that the light will turn itself off after it’s full 30 minutes.
The Sunset Dimmer was invited by a dad.
The Sunset Dimmer worked great and my Jace knew that when the lights started to get real low it was time to get ready to sleep.

Debbie Cavalier of Debbie and Friends, a music educator and dean at Berklee College of Music and one of the top children’s music artists in the nation, has published a great new book: Learning To Play Piano for the Very Young. It is available from Debbie and Friends Music ($9.95) and from various retailers.
With Learning To Play Piano for the Very Young, even pre-readers may:
learn to read the treble clef and note names using colorful pictures.
get started playing familiar melodies with their right hand.
learn to play seven well-loved songs including favorites such as “Twinkle, Twinkle” and “Jingle Bells.”
enjoy family sing alongs with the guitar chord chart, included.
Jace loves to play around on the keyboard that we have for him. And we took some piano lessons, so he knows some and can play Twinkle Twinkle already. So he was excited when we got the new book, Learning To Play Piano for the Very Young.
I loved the pull-out Keyboard Tent (included) that provides a fun visual reference to associate notes on the page to keys on the piano. And the full-color book is filled with words of encouragement and praise from familiar Debbie and Friends cartoon characters.
