I don’t know about anyone else’s Garden, but our garden goes well this year! We have a small yard but we make room to grow a garden. Hey, it’s one of the easiest way to get CHEAP food!
To the left you see our Super Hot Chile’s that we are growing this year. These along with 4 other varieties of hot peppers grow in our garden. We also planted about 12 tomato plants.
That plus everything that my dad plants in his large garden has me busy this summer. We’ve made batches of hot pepper jelly, frozen green beans, frozen corn, fresh salsa and pizza sauce. Below is the pizza sauce that I made today. My good friend DeAnna sent me the recipe.
- 6 to 8 Plum Tomatoes
- 2 Tbs Chopped, fresh Basil
- 2 Tbs Chopped, fresh Oregano
- 1 Clove Garlic, Minced
- 1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1/2Tsp Pepper
1. Carefully put tomatoes into a pot of boiling water for 20 seconds.
2. Retrieve them with a slotted spoon and place them in a bowl of ice water to cool.
3. When cool enough to handle, use a paring knife to remove the core end of the tomato and peel away the skin.
4. Cut tomatoes length wise and seed tomatoes.
5. Coarsely chop tomatoes by hand or food processor and put into a sauce pan, adding remaining ingredients to the pan as well.
6. Simmer sauce for 30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
I then placed 1 cup in freezer bags, squeezed as much air as I can out and laid them flat in my freeze (after the cooled down).
What will I make next week with the next batch of tomatoes?

We have a tiny garden, and since I am in South Florida the season
is long gone, but it will soon start again. At the moment we have
mangoes on the trees, habanero peppers and herbs. Soon it will be
avocado season…yum!!!
